He wrote beautiful poems for the children in which he has explained birds talking to nature e.g. “The Squimel and the Mountain”, “The Lament of a Bird”, “The Spider and the Fly” and many more.

In his poetry, Allama Iqbal gives a message of hope and self-respect of the Muslims. He gave political awareness to the Muslims of the sub-continent. This helped the Muslims unite and struggle for a separate homeland. Allama Iqbal wrote poetry both in Urdu and Persian.

He was an ordinary young lad who went to school on foot and sometimes in a tanga. Like all other boys of his age, he took interest in his studies and other school activities. After he had passed his matriculation and gone to a college, he studied more seriously. He could think about the feelings of even birds and animals. He was able to express these in his poems such as ‘The Cow and the Goat. The most beautiful is ‘A Child’s prayer’. This is sung in many schools in the morning assemblies.

He did not think about himself only but of all the other Muslims who were not living in good condition. They were miserable and had no hope and courage. Allama Iqbal gave them message of a new hope. The Muslims came out of despair and became united again.
