Honorable President, my dear teachers, guests and students Assalam-o-Alaikum.
After observing fast during the holy month at Ramadan, the people go up on the top of their houses and wait for the new moon or crescent to be sighted in the sky. When the new moon ls sighted. men, women and especially the elders and the children express great joy. They rejoice the beautiful moments because it is going to be Eid the very next day.
Eid ul Fitr is a very special Islamic event. It is celebrated with joy and happiness. After the Fajjar prayers, the Muslim families begin the day of the Eid-ul Fitr with breakfast of different sweet dishes. They wear new clothes and go to mosques to offer Eid prayers.
After the Eid prayers are over, the elder members of the family embrace one another with hugs and greet each other for a happy Eid. Small children show their colorful dresses to one another. Little girls also display the shine and silk of their lovely dresses.
The people give Fitraana to the deserving and the poor people of the society. Fitraana means helping the poor with money, clothes or grains so that they can also enjoy the function of Eid. In most of the Muslim families, friends, relatives, neighbors everyone visits one another to share the joys and happiness with each other. The elders give “Eidee” to children and exchange presents, gifts and greetings.
Bitter feelings and all other differences are forgotten forever on this day by everyone. People become friendly with one another and show love to eatch other on this happy event.
Eid ul Fitr is a very important occasion of our social life. The importance of this event is emphasized in the Eid Sermons.
Eid-ul-Fitr is also a thanksgiving occasion for all the Muslims especially those who have observed all the fasts during Ramadan. It also makes us realize how the poor people feel and suffer when they remain hungry for long hours. It also makes us familiar with the sufferings of the poor in the severe cold and hot weathers.
Eid-uI-Fitr reminds us that In a Muslim celebrations and Joys are to be shared with all. Caste, creed and color are of no value in Islam. The poor and the miserable people lire the most important part of our society. We should remain close to them.
