Tolerance of Holy Prophet Essay
Honourable President, my dear teachers, guests and students Assalam-o-Alaikum.
Every Muslim knows that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last Prophet of Allah. Allah sent His message to humanity through him. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent by Allah to the ignorant people. He is the greatest man that ever lived. He led a simple life. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) proved that even a poor man could be noble and trustworthy in the small aspects of life. It is the beauty of character and personality which makes a man great and respectable. There are many things that one dislikes. There are some persons one hates. It requires tolerance and patience to behave peacefully towards such bitter people.
Tolerance means to bear pain or hurdles with patience and spirit. It also means to bear things a person hates or does not like. For example, when you are very angry and want to hit someone, but don’tt do so, you are showing tolerance. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) loved humanity. He was tolerant even to those enemies of Quraish and Makkah who always opposed him.
The following examples illustrate the tolerance of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Once a Jew wanted to test the tolerance Of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). He made a deal for the purchase of dates and paid the money in advance to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Then he went to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) far before the fixed & decided date. He wanted the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to lose his tolerance and make him angry. So he demanded the dates angrily.
Hazrat Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) was present. at that time. He wanted to kill the Jew but the Holy Prophet (PBUH) checked him. He advised Hazrat Umer (RA) to be patient. He also asked Hazrat Umer (R.A) to give him some more dates with the already agreed amount. The Jew was greatly impressed by the tolerance of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
In another instance, there lived an old woman who was a bitter enemy of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). She used to throw garbage on the way when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) passed by. One day when the Holy Prophet. (PBUH) passed by the woman’s house, there was no garbage. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) came to know that she was ill. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) went to the old woman and inquired about her health. He fetched water for her. cleaned her house and gave her medicine.
The woman was so much impressed by the kindness and tolerance of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that she embraced Islam and became a good Muslim.
